Hey, peeps! Who's ready for the holiday weekend? I know I am. I'll be making a cheese cake--from a box mix--because that's how I roll. * With my book out in less than three weeks, I thought I'd tide you all over with a quick quote. I don't want to give away too much. Spoilers, you know. Tristen grew serious. "Olivia, you have never killed a man. You don't know what it's like. How it changes you." Can you believe "A Desperate Love" will be out in eighteen days? Wow! *Pinches self.* * On the note of book reading, I finished "Sky in the Deep" yesterday. It took only four days for me to plow through this little pretty. This is a young adult fantasy by Adrienne Young, with a strong Viking vibe. The book dives deep into a violent world where loyalty to one's clan is everything. It surrounds two clans, the Aska and the Riki, who have been in a generations long blood feud. One day E...

Sneak Peek

Currently, I am doing the final read through for "A Desperate Love." Yay! It's a little time consuming, but I wanted to get some kind of a blog in. A friend suggested that I do a sneak peek, an idea which I loved ! So here you go darlings, a short peek at my story. Enjoy! She slipped unnoticed into the chapel. Her hand flew to her mouth as she gasped. A monk, whom she did not know, was stationed towards the front of their chapel, praying. The closest door to the secret passage lay behind the altar. There was no way Olivia could reach it without being seen by the stranger. She waited, hardly breathing. She stood motionless in the dark for what seemed like an eternity. A single candle illuminated the reverent face. In an effort to at least get closer, she slipped silently behind a pew. Another eternity passed as she stayed as still as possible. Finally, the man turned and walked down the aisle past her, heading for the door. Just as he reac...

"The Siren" and Safe Havens

"Take a deep breath, Kahlen. Hold on tight."       This week I've been reading "The Siren" by Kiera Cass. It's a favorite of author Sara Ella's. So I thought, why not? Can I tell you, I am self-proclaimed book picky? It took me probably two weeks and the first four or five chapters to get into this book. But once I started, well, now I can't put it down!      Kahlen is a siren. Like every siren before her, she was about to drown at sea, but the Ocean saw something special in her and saved her. She was given the choice to serve the Ocean for a hundred years (she may resume a normal life afterward) or die. She chose to serve and has spent decades singing on a yearly basis to "feed" the Ocean. As her one hundred year sentence (of being stuck in an indestructible body, paused at the age of nineteen) comes to a close, she falls for a boy.      This becomes an incredibly complicated situation considering that if she laughs, talks...

"Unbreakable"

Happy Friday, friends! I'm sitting here eating cookies, because cookies are life. I also can't focus on writing if I'm hangry or coffeeless. Thus, cookies! Nuff said. *Nuff said: there is no need to say more. (Thank you, Google. You have made my Friday!🤣)            Now to the book I've most recently read. "Unbreakable" by Sara Ella, the third book in the Unblemished Series. Friieenndddsss.  If you are a fan of Once Upon a Time , you are going to want to check this out!      Eliyana's story starts in our world, shortly after the death of her mother. It doesn't take long for El's world to get all kinds of crazy. I will warn you that there is a lot to process in the first book. There are a host of characters, other Reflections (worlds, so to speak), Callings (or giftings/abilities), and the like. Eliyana doesn't know what is happening or who she can trust. As a reader, I felt the same. Who is this? W...
