Weird Dreams

Last night, I had a strange dream. My husband and I are big fans of investigative dramas. NCIS, SVU, CSI, Matlock, Aurora Teagarden, and Garage Sale Mysteries. Couple that with a number of weird nonfiction books I handled the day before and you get this (reposted from my Facebook): *Que dark room filled with cops (you are also a cop). Random cop: *Picks up bloody hides in taxidermy room.* They've been using [insert 3 scientific words] in the hides. (These are illegal drugs.) Another cop: Don't touch anything! Everybody out, now! *You all start running. There's gunfire sounds, but no bad guys appear and you don't see anyone shooting. (You're confused, but assume they're sound effects to scare the villains off.) Olivia Benson, SVU: What are you all doing? Somebody get a cart! *Oh right, evidence. Duh.* *Someone gets a cart.* To clarify, I think my book cart was the evidence cart. Some of the books from yesterday were on dr...

Thanksgiving, etc.

Last week, I had a get together with my girls for a Once Upon a Time themed party!  Basically it was an excuse to binge watch  Once , eat yummy food, and wear costumes. Can you believe this photo was taken by a preschooler? My niece has mad skills! <3 Red, Roni, and the Dark Swan. Don't we look like we belong on an album cover? Shout out to Roni (and her little) for the awesome photos! * Instagram news: I'm doing an Instagram giveaway! ↓ Details below. ↓ Prize pack includes: *"A Desperate Love" *old school hair scrunchies *fuzzy unicorn socks *weekly/monthly planner (w/ stickers) *foxy scarf *fruit punch chapstick This giveaway is via Instagram only. 11/16/18

Hey friends! I hope y'all's week is going well. I had a head cold and a flat tire myself. But, silver linings, the hubs got my tire fixed and bought me this awesome shirt. So he wins the most-awesome-husband of the week award in my book. * Thing I'm reading this week: Fawkes  by Nadine Brandes I feel like I've been saying this forever . I'm only forty-eight pages away from finishing. It's getting really good, the kind of good where you don't want to put it down! I spent the first part of the book thinking two things: 1. That I wanted to tell the other characters to be nice to Thomas. 2. That I wished his father would give the poor kid his mask already! Let me tell you, when Thomas finally gets his mask--It. Is. Epic. *Lots of girly squealing.* Fawkes  is an historical fantasy based on the Gun Powder Plot that occurred in seventeenth century London. The fantasy aspect is that the characters have magical col...

Fall & Writing Breakthroughs

Fall! Shortly after last week's blog, I took this photo. Unfortunately, I am unable to share a photo of the red trees. We got a lot of wind. Then, this morning, we had snow! I know it's Indiana, but I was working in the yard in a sweatshirt twenty-four hours ago. Oh, beautiful Fall, why must you be so short? At least it gives me plenty of reasons to wear my knee boots and sweaters, drink lots of coffee, and bundle up with a blanket and a good book. * I'm still reading Fawkes. *Sigh.* Don't get me wrong, I like this book. Sometimes I plow through books in a few days, sometimes longer. This is just one of those books I'm reading at a leisurely pace. But I do need to pick up the pace because I'm likely to get two new books today. 😐 * On the subject of books (When am I not on this subject on this blog?), I penciled in two writing days this week. I got my wax melter going, my coffee ready. I'...

Fall and Fantasy

Friends, it's fall! It's one of my favorite times of year. We're past the sticky summer heat, and not yet to the frigid cold that is Indiana winters. We have some beautiful leaves, a lot of yellow and red, around here. Unfortunately, this is the only good snap of them I got on our street. (You have to go up a couple of blocks for the really pretty leaves.) * Yesterday was National Authors' Day. I'm incredibly blessed to be a part of this special group of people. Writers are diverse, from age to genre, to our personal process. What a privilege to say I am an author! Yesterday was also Men Make Dinner Day. I didn't hold the man-friend to this. But since I got groceries in the rain, I gave myself a pass and served salad for dinner. 😉 * What I'm reading: Fawkes  by Nadine Brandes. I'm roughly 1/3 of the way through. Hopefully, I'll have pretty quotes for you next week. This is a historical fantasy, meaning ...
