Event Fun

Thanks to everyone who came out Wednesday to support me and Cheyenne!

We had a great time!

A special thanks to the Flora Monroe Township Public Library for hosting the event and making me feel oh so special!

The cookies we had were practically cupcakes with the amount of icing on them. Yum! 😋

We had readings, a Q&A time, and book giveaways.
The event was recorded for YouTube. So, if you were unable to attend, it should be on the library's YouTube channel in the very near future.

Thanks again, everyone! 😍

P.S. You can find Cheyenne on her Facebook page, Cheyenne's Books/Writing Announcements.
I hear she even personalizes one of her books with your little one's name. You should check her out.

Book I finished TODAY:

Storm Siren by Mary Weber

"Because evil knows what we will become: Stronger. Wiser. Unstoppable.
Don't let him take who you are. Make him fear who you will become."

Powerful stuff!

This is my fourth time reading this series.
If there's not a fandom for this, there should be.

Book I'm reading next:

Siren's Fury

In the second book Nym takes on a dangerous dark power in order to save Eogan. All I can say is the girl is mad as "hulls" (read book for reference).

Can't wait. 😃

Song . . . ?

Hmm, I don't really have a new song this week. It's probably because I've mostly been listening to sermons and devotionals online, even a random podcast. I think the upcoming book event had me a tad stressed (social anxiety). It helps to charge yourself up with a good word.

Amen?

I'm just going to assume you seconded my 'amen,' okay?

New thing I did:

I made chicken. I took nasty, slimy, raw chicken and cooked it in my slow cooker. I bagged it and froze it for future meals.
First. Time. Ever.

The chicken enchiladas I made were pretty good. I'm using some tonight to make chicken nachos.

Second new thing I'm doing:

Lent

I have never participated in Lent before.
Shortly after deciding I would do it, and trying to figure out what I would give up, I came across a FB friend's post about Lent. It suggested filling a bag every day with items around your house you no longer need.

I thought that seemed a bit much, but liked the idea. Yesterday, I tossed four or five pair of earrings I don't wear in a bag. Today, I added a knick-knack I don't want. One day I discarded old paper notes.

So, I'm finding the experience interesting.
1. I've discovered that my little sacrifices seem infinitesimal when compared to Christ's sacrifice. Perhaps that's the point. Anything I do for him will never measure up to His gift of life, but He wants it anyway.
2. It's a good motivator to finally get some of the junk out of my house. You know the stuff you look at, sigh at, and walk away from? That stuff.
3. Speaking of that stuff, it's a bit like spring cleaning. It's similar to Easter, Christ doing away with the old covenant to bring in the new. It's like this time of year, the dead frozen things being revived to life.
May He bring us back to life this season!

Happy weekend, friends!
Love, J 💜
