Sophia Water Confident Ready

Book I just finished:

Sophia, Princess Among Beasts
by James Patterson with Emily Raymond

Confession: This is the first Patterson I've ever read.
I know, shocking, right?

I'm giving it 3 stars.
⭐⭐⭐

It has nice, short chapters. The pace is excellent (fast moving). It truly kept my attention.
There were a few questions left unanswered. I wish those were addressed, but it doesn't take too much from the story.

"Soon I would need all the courage I'd ever possessed and more. I had been a princess, a beast, and a captive.
And now I must be a warrior queen."

Annnd . . .
can I talk about that last scene?!
You know, sans spoilers.
I don't think I would have found the man's gesture quite so romantic had the journey not been what it was, but I loved it.
Again, my questions concerning how it came about were not answered. Maybe you don't need a bow. I like bows, thank you very much. It can be a hastily tied bow, but I need it.

I enjoyed Sophia's personal journey. She really develops the heart that was there all along. She just needed the proper motivation. So good!

Oh, and interesting thing I discovered this morning. I was watching an ad on YouTube for this book and Mr. Patterson did not pronounce her name correctly, I thought. Then the narrator proceeded to speak in his very deep and dramatic voice and say: Read. James Patterson's. So-fie-uh, Princess Among Beasts.
I'm sorry, read what?🀣
I'll leave you to process that on your own.

Yummy thing I discovered this week:

Spindrift sparkling water

It's fruit and water. That's it.

See!
Carbonated water, blackberry juice, fresh lemon juice, and blackberry puree.

I like natural products when I can afford them.
Honestly, they are normally ridiculously expensive. This was a dollar something. And the taste? Way better than some of the flavored waters with artificial ingredients I've tried.

Yum!πŸ˜‹
(Also, why is this emoji titled "Face Savoring Delicious Food," like, shouldn't just say "Yummy" or something? Let's keep it simple, people.)

Quote of the week:

I've been participating in an online/virtual Bible study on the book of Mark.

People are encouraged to comment with their one take away from the daily chapter reading. When we got to the chapter about the demoniac, they were discussing how after the man was healed he wanted to go with Jesus. But He told him to stay and tell people about what He'd done for the man.
A woman in the group commented in reference to this verse that she was, "Ready to go, but willing to stay."
And that's kind of stuck with me all week.

Don't forget!

Next week is the last week to participate in my giveaway on Instagram.

You can still post for previous weeks, however, I will only take one entry for each prompt.
So get busy, friend!

Because, hello, prizes!!

See you next week, friends.

Spring is Here!🌷

Happy spring, friends!🌞🌱 We've had a lot of rain here in the Hoosier state. It's getting warmer, and things are greening up. I can't wait for sunny days when I can go for walks and start working on my garden. This year, I'm planning to try my hand at container gardening. My garden plot is pretty small to start with. I like things that are straightforward and practical. So, this seems like it might be a good fit. And less weeding! Which is good, because I'm continuing to work through final tweaks for Champion's Sword . I should be done by the end of April. Then I'll move on to formatting, followed by one final read to check for commas and such. I'm looking forward to refilling my creative well and returning to drafting after so long in editing land.πŸ˜‰ Reading . . . This month, I re-read Spells for Forgetting  by Adrienne Young. And I finally got my hands on Ignite  by Kara Swanson. If you've read Champion's Key , you'll understand why this ...

Happy December!

Happy December, friends! I don't know about you, but I drink hot drinks all year round. I love to start my day with coffee and end it with tea. As the weather has turned colder, I've found greater enjoyment in it. There's just something about cozying up with a warm drink. But to be honest, as I've gotten older, a fair amount of the shiny parts of the Christmas season have been overshadowed by the frustration of societal expectations. Less is more, I say. Yet I've realized this isn't about me. Shocker, I know. So, I've set out my few minimalist decorations. I've embraced a tree this year (a tiny Scandinavian-style one, but even so). And strangely, I'm finding that I don't mind the twinkle lights so much this year. Even if the silver garland I placed on the mantle is driving me bonkers. Reading . . . Behemoth

Guys, I have three chapters left! Theoretically, I should be able to tackle these last chapters next week. I will say, though, that I've learned things often take me longer than I expect, and chapter fifty-one is a behemoth . Seriously, it's double the size of a lot of my chapters. After I've finished with edits, I'll read through the entire book to check everything one final time (and fix em dashes in the first half😐) before moving on to formatting, cover design, and publication. Yay! Reading . . . This month, I read So That Happened  by Katie Bailey (Donovan Family, Bk. 1), a grumpy-sunshine romcom that was super cute. And I finally returned to the Hawthorne Brothers series (Jenny Proctor) and read How to Kiss Your Grumpy Boss  (Bk. 2) and How to Kiss Your Enemy (Bk. 3). Somehow, I unintentionally picked three workplace romances . . . and movie star ones for my upcoming blogπŸ™ˆ, with the exception of Beg, Borrow, or Steal by the amazing Sarah Adams. I'll be repe...
