Book Blurb!πŸŒΉπŸ”‘πŸ’™

With Champion's Key releasing soon, I thought it would be fun to share the blurb. I will hopefully have a release date for you all in the next month or so as I'm still waiting on my copyright. So, without further ado, here's the blurb for Key!πŸŒΉπŸ”‘πŸ’™

Briar is liaison to the human kingdom of Esland, a role he stepped into after ending his secret relationship with his childhood friend, Esland’s heir. Briar is more than a little surprised when King Arden asks him to look after Rosalyn. Fulfilling his duties isn’t easy. Rosalyn can barely stand to be in the same room with him. One night Rosalyn is attacked, and Briar makes a shocking discovery. The princess isn’t human, something she’s completely unaware of.

Rosalyn doesn’t let others in, especially Briar, whose nearness stirs up things she’d rather forget. But when her father returns, poisoned and near death, chaos erupts. Rose finds herself on the run, dependent on Briar to keep her alive. And to mend what’s broken inside.

Rose settles into life among the elves as best she can. Briar can’t shake the feeling that something’s wrong, a worry that’s confirmed when she sneaks off to find her father’s murderer. The perpetrator is eviler than either of them can imagine, putting all the realms at risk. The only person who can defeat foundling is the fabled Champion. There’s only one problem. No one’s seen him in years. Who will save them when there’s no hero?

Enjoying . . .

In last month's blog, I mentioned that I've been watching hair-care videos on YouTube (Katherine Sewing). I've started implementing some of what I've learned, including using a homemade dry shampoo made from cornstarch and cocoa. The recipe I use is 2 TBS unsweetened cocoa and 2 TBS cornstarch. I section off my hair and apply it close to the scalp with a powder brush. Then I brush my hair with a boar-bristle brush to distribute the powder. You will need more or less cocoa depending on the shade of your hair.

This month I've been binge watching Abby Cox's YouTube videos. On Abby's channel you'll learn about fashion history and sewing. You'll be delighted by "experiment" episodes. They may involve a one-hundred-year-old plus recipe for rogue or hair gel. There are also unboxings of antique garments, where Abby oohs and aahs over gorgeous dresses.
Warning for sensitive viewers: Language.

Life . . .

For those of you who don't know, my husband has four grown children from a previous marriage. Being that he is several years older than me, is the baby of his family (I'm the oldest of mine), and had kids early, his third oldest child has recently made me a young grandmother!πŸ˜‚πŸ’™Little man was born on the first day of summer and is a sweet ray of sunshine. He's a tiny fellow with long arms and a scrunchy old man face when his sleep is being disturbed. It has been such a delight to watch Hubs' excitement over his new grandson (and of course to enjoy lots of baby snuggles!)

Blessings,

Spring is Here!🌷

Happy spring, friends!🌞🌱 We've had a lot of rain here in the Hoosier state. It's getting warmer, and things are greening up. I can't wait for sunny days when I can go for walks and start working on my garden. This year, I'm planning to try my hand at container gardening. My garden plot is pretty small to start with. I like things that are straightforward and practical. So, this seems like it might be a good fit. And less weeding! Which is good, because I'm continuing to work through final tweaks for Champion's Sword . I should be done by the end of April. Then I'll move on to formatting, followed by one final read to check for commas and such. I'm looking forward to refilling my creative well and returning to drafting after so long in editing land.πŸ˜‰ Reading . . . This month, I re-read Spells for Forgetting  by Adrienne Young. And I finally got my hands on Ignite  by Kara Swanson. If you've read Champion's Key , you'll understand why this ...

Happy December!

Happy December, friends! I don't know about you, but I drink hot drinks all year round. I love to start my day with coffee and end it with tea. As the weather has turned colder, I've found greater enjoyment in it. There's just something about cozying up with a warm drink. But to be honest, as I've gotten older, a fair amount of the shiny parts of the Christmas season have been overshadowed by the frustration of societal expectations. Less is more, I say. Yet I've realized this isn't about me. Shocker, I know. So, I've set out my few minimalist decorations. I've embraced a tree this year (a tiny Scandinavian-style one, but even so). And strangely, I'm finding that I don't mind the twinkle lights so much this year. Even if the silver garland I placed on the mantle is driving me bonkers. Reading . . . Behemoth

Guys, I have three chapters left! Theoretically, I should be able to tackle these last chapters next week. I will say, though, that I've learned things often take me longer than I expect, and chapter fifty-one is a behemoth . Seriously, it's double the size of a lot of my chapters. After I've finished with edits, I'll read through the entire book to check everything one final time (and fix em dashes in the first half😐) before moving on to formatting, cover design, and publication. Yay! Reading . . . This month, I read So That Happened  by Katie Bailey (Donovan Family, Bk. 1), a grumpy-sunshine romcom that was super cute. And I finally returned to the Hawthorne Brothers series (Jenny Proctor) and read How to Kiss Your Grumpy Boss  (Bk. 2) and How to Kiss Your Enemy (Bk. 3). Somehow, I unintentionally picked three workplace romances . . . and movie star ones for my upcoming blogπŸ™ˆ, with the exception of Beg, Borrow, or Steal by the amazing Sarah Adams. I'll be repe...
