Key Release!

Yesterday, I officially hit publish on KDP. From what I understand, it can take up to seventy-two hours for a book to go up on Amazon. That means Champion's Key should be available for purchase by the end of the week! If you've been following my posts, you probably know this is a YA Fantasy series, which makes it a very different book from my first. But if you were looking forward to more romance and sword fights, have no fear, this series will give you plenty of both!πŸ’™A full description of Key can be found on my "Books" page. I can't wait for you to meet Rosalyn, Briar, and the rest of the gang. It's going to be a wild ride!

Reading . . .

Range by Ronie Kendig

The Metcalfes, Bk. 3

Christian Fiction

This series! Just . . . wow! It isn't for the faint of heart, but it's oh so good.

A Most Clever Girl: How Jane Austen Discovered Her Voice by Jasmine A. Stirling

Children's Nonfiction

"It is a truth universally acknowledged that a girl with an astonishing appetite for books must grow up to have a great many literary heroines."

*You'll find this gem of a quote in the very back of this beautiful book in the note from the author.😍

Vow of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson

Dance of Thieves, Bk. 2

YA Fantasy

I really want to share all four quotes I saved from this book, but I shan't. This series is a continuation of The Remnant Chronicles, which I absolutely devoured. It also tied with The Winner's Trilogy (Marie Rutkoski) for my top reads of the year awhile back. Hoping to read Morrighan (The Remnant Chronicles, Bk. 0.5) sometime soon!

House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig

Sisters of the Salt, Bk. 1

YA Fantasy

Holy creepy books, Batman! I don't usually read scary stories, but this one wasn't too bad until maybe the last fourth of the book. By then I just wanted to know what happened! If you're looking for a good read for spooky season, you might want to pick this one up.

Music . . .

"Eyes Closed" || Ed Sheeran

Would not recommend listening to this while reading House of Salt and Sorrows unless you want to up the creepy vibe. I'd explain why but . . . spoilers.πŸ™ˆ

Enjoying . . .

Little House on the Mountain on YouTube. Lea's channel is a lovely mix of Christian podcast episodes, aesthetic videos, how-tos, and vlogs. Think cottagecore, slow living, feminine dress, and faith.

Life stuff . . .

Last week, Hubs and I had our two-month-old grandbebe overnight. I so enjoyed rocking and feeding him, as well as watching my husband read little man a story. But let me tell you something. We. Were. Tired! There's a whole lot of truth in that you spoil your grandkids and then send them home.πŸ˜‚

Blessings,

J 🀍

Spring is Here!🌷

Happy spring, friends!🌞🌱 We've had a lot of rain here in the Hoosier state. It's getting warmer, and things are greening up. I can't wait for sunny days when I can go for walks and start working on my garden. This year, I'm planning to try my hand at container gardening. My garden plot is pretty small to start with. I like things that are straightforward and practical. So, this seems like it might be a good fit. And less weeding! Which is good, because I'm continuing to work through final tweaks for Champion's Sword . I should be done by the end of April. Then I'll move on to formatting, followed by one final read to check for commas and such. I'm looking forward to refilling my creative well and returning to drafting after so long in editing land.πŸ˜‰ Reading . . . This month, I re-read Spells for Forgetting  by Adrienne Young. And I finally got my hands on Ignite  by Kara Swanson. If you've read Champion's Key , you'll understand why this ...

Happy December!

Happy December, friends! I don't know about you, but I drink hot drinks all year round. I love to start my day with coffee and end it with tea. As the weather has turned colder, I've found greater enjoyment in it. There's just something about cozying up with a warm drink. But to be honest, as I've gotten older, a fair amount of the shiny parts of the Christmas season have been overshadowed by the frustration of societal expectations. Less is more, I say. Yet I've realized this isn't about me. Shocker, I know. So, I've set out my few minimalist decorations. I've embraced a tree this year (a tiny Scandinavian-style one, but even so). And strangely, I'm finding that I don't mind the twinkle lights so much this year. Even if the silver garland I placed on the mantle is driving me bonkers. Reading . . . Behemoth

Guys, I have three chapters left! Theoretically, I should be able to tackle these last chapters next week. I will say, though, that I've learned things often take me longer than I expect, and chapter fifty-one is a behemoth . Seriously, it's double the size of a lot of my chapters. After I've finished with edits, I'll read through the entire book to check everything one final time (and fix em dashes in the first half😐) before moving on to formatting, cover design, and publication. Yay! Reading . . . This month, I read So That Happened  by Katie Bailey (Donovan Family, Bk. 1), a grumpy-sunshine romcom that was super cute. And I finally returned to the Hawthorne Brothers series (Jenny Proctor) and read How to Kiss Your Grumpy Boss  (Bk. 2) and How to Kiss Your Enemy (Bk. 3). Somehow, I unintentionally picked three workplace romances . . . and movie star ones for my upcoming blogπŸ™ˆ, with the exception of Beg, Borrow, or Steal by the amazing Sarah Adams. I'll be repe...
