With school starting in less than a month and the end of summer reading, it feels like summer is almost over. I'm slowly reading through my manuscript and taking notes (nine chapters to go!) & working on my garden, which is coming along nicely. The radishes have all been harvested. I don't have many carrots, but at least I haven't had any bunny problems so far. My tomato, zucchini, and cucumber plants are blossoming. Yesterday, I brought in my first zucchini and decided to keep track of how much my plants produce so I know how many to plant next year. I want to be more intentional about my gardening. I'd love to have enough to preserve, even if that's simply freezing some of it to cut down on grocery costs.
Reading . . .
My reading this month has been a little all over the place. I read a couple of romcoms, starting with Hearts in Circulation by Sarah Monzon. I love this series! It's just such a perfect balance of romance, humor, and heart. I also read The Shippers by Katherine Center. This was a quick, light read. I finished it in three days. As far as nonfiction, I read Keep Going by Austin Kleon. His books are short, practical, and inspiring. Then I returned to re-reading books from my childhood, starting with Nate the Great by Marjorie Weinman Sharmat. I found this book so delightful I'm tempted to read more in the series just for the fun of it. Next, I read The Legend of the Bluebonnet by Tomie dePaola. Our elementary school librarian read this to my class. I don't remember it being so sad, but it was definitely worth the read.
Enjoying . . .
Grace Walk Farms on YouTube. Josh and Amber's channel is all about gardening/homesteading and herbalism.
Hot chocolate! I made my husband a raspberry pie for his birthday and bought whipped cream to go with it. Then I remembered I had a little cocoa left. So how could I not make hot chocolate and top it with the whipped cream when I'm a fall girl at heart?
Talk to you soon,
Jessica ♡
