Sophia Water Confident Ready

Book I just finished: Sophia, Princess Among Beasts  by James Patterson with Emily Raymond Confession: This is the first Patterson I've ever read. I know, shocking, right? I'm giving it 3 stars. ⭐⭐⭐ It has nice, short chapters. The pace is excellent (fast moving). It truly kept my attention. There were a few questions left unanswered. I wish those were addressed, but it doesn't take too much from the story. "Soon I would need all the courage I'd ever possessed and more. I had been a princess, a beast, and a captive. And now I must be a warrior queen." Annnd . . . can I talk about that last scene?! You know, sans spoilers. I don't think I would have found the man's gesture quite so romantic had the journey not been what it was, but I loved  it. Again, my questions concerning how it came about were not answered. Maybe you don't need a bow. I like bows, thank you very much. It can be a hastily tied bow,...

I'm an Onion

I have a bruise on my knee. I can't remember how I got it. I do remember hitting my knee, saying "Ow," and then laughing because I thought it was a stupid way to get a bruise. I forgot I had the silly thing until I went to sit down this morning. I put my hand on my knee, and, "Ouch! That hurts." I remembered the forgotten bruise, just as present as ever, but now at the forefront of my thoughts. Emotional wounds are similar. We can be going along, all is well, and suddenly that painful affliction is there. If you're like me, you ask yourself why this thing is still there. "I thought I forgave so-and-so." "I thought I was over this." Commence either 1.) spiraling into a vortex of negativity that leads nowhere, or 2.) prayer that is half repentance, half questions. If you choose the first, I'm going to tell you what my mom used to tell me when I told her it hurt to touch a sore spot. "Well, then don'...

Good Deeds

My husband text me this week to tell me he found the origin of the wasps we've been getting in our dining room. It's between our inside and outside door. We were literally walking under a wasp nest any time we entered or exited our home and had no clue. It's amazing none of us were stung! My sweet husband went outside last night and used a whole can of wasp spray on the darn thing. He came inside and said, "Well, it's gone. I did my good deed for the day." It got me to thinking, is there a limit to good deeds? I mean, that is the saying, as if doing one is sufficient. And what exactly qualifies as a good deed? I think most of us believe a good deed is something big or unusual, like helping someone move or pet sitting your friend's horse size dog. It's no wonder we don't think of doing them until we've already done them. "I've done my good deed for the day!" Can I present a twist on this? I don...

(Not my dog.)

I hope you had a great Fourth of July, friends! (Not my dog.🤷) My holiday was pretty laid back. Hubs and I ran to Wal-Mart to purchase a new vacuum. We spent the rest of the day enjoying a Chicago P.D.  marathon. That seems to be "our" thing when it comes to TV viewing. We love our investigative dramas. Right now I'm most excited for the return of The Outpost , a fantasy series about a girl named Talon who is a Blackblood (and can control monsters from another dimension). It's a bit cheesy, but it's all mine, just as sports belong to my husband. ****** Song I discovered this week: Runaway by Sebastian Yatra, Daddy Yankee, Natti Natasha (ft. Jonas Brothers) Honestly, my Spanish is so rusty. They could be saying anything for all I know, but it's fun to listen to. ****** Book I just finished: Sky in the Deep  by Adrienne Young "I tried to summon her to me-- that  Eelyn who would choose her...
